Roots to Prosperity is a blueprint to unlock the potential of the forestry and forest products sector across the north of England to maximise its economic potential. The partners work with government, Local Enterprise Partnerships and local authorities to ensure the right conditions are in place to support the industry to prosper. Key areas of work at present are promoting new productive woodland planting, capital investment in contracting and processing businesses and supporting new entrants into the workforce.
The partnership that commissioned Roots to Prosperity is a wide ranging one consisting of organisations representing timber processors, woodland owners, the supply chain and both local and central government. The original partners who came together in early 2014 to instigate this initiative and who make up the Leadership Group that manages Roots to Prosperity include Confor, UKFPA, the Forestry Commission and Cumbria, County Durham, Northumberland and North Yorkshire County Councils.
